Amy L. Wilde, LCSW
Working Together to Foster Change
A client who would benefit the most from my services is interested in the process of learning about herself/himself in a new light in order to live in a way that is meaningful and more comfortable than her/his life may be now. The client understands that making the choice to begin therapy is a courageous and necessary step towards wellness. My areas of interest include: Anxiety Disorders/Phobias, Grief/Loss, Depression, Adjustment Disorder, Gay/Lesbian Issues, Life Transitions, Personal Growth, Relationship Issues, Self-esteem, Stress Management, Terminal/Chronic Illness, and Women’s Issues
One of the most effective methods utilized in therapy today is cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT). Simply put, CBT is a model that postulates that our perceptions of ourselves and the world around us which have been shaped by our thoughts, our actions, and our experiences can influence our feelings.
As areas of insight are developed through individual therapy, new skills are developed and learned to provide short and long-term relief. Wherever we are on our journeys at this moment can help to develop insight into and awareness of the self, our perceptions, and ultimately the choices we make.
Clinical Interests: She specializes in helping children, adolescents, and adults address and overcome issues surrounding mood and anxiety disorders, loss, adjustment issues, trauma, family conflict, and social difficulties. Areas of experience include the provision of individual, group, and family therapy. She uses a psychodynamic, cognitive-behavioral, and strength-based approach to explore and work through an individual’s problems and barriers which are limiting their growth and individual development.
It is Amy’s belief that asking for help is a sign of strength and that her role is one of supporter, advocate, and guide to help individuals achieve their full coping and living potential.
